A warm tuesday in February

Today it is unseasonably warm out. The snow is almost all gone now and it is muddy. The kind you get in the spring  that keeps the floors all dirty no matter how many times you try to keep them clean. The kind little boys want to play in.
As parents we try to guess what our children will become someday. So far we think Jonah will be a lawyer (loves to argue) a salesman (never takes no for an answer) or a DJ (loves to talk) or maybe he will go into politics. Who knows at age eight and a half, but it is fun to guess.

February 5, 2009

Today Jonah & I made homemade recycle paper. I ripped the old papers up in pieces and we filled the Vat (plastic container) with water. We filled the blender 3/4 the way full with water and put a couple handfulls of paper into the blender and set it on high for 1 minute to make a "slurppy" (no, not to drink!)
Then we dipped the mold and screen set and took out as much water as possible and it now dries on a sheet of paper. We did this six times. The paper is still ugly gray and no dry yet. Jonah was bored with the process after the first 15 minutes. Sigh.

Monday

We made a classroom out of a spare room in the house and much to my surprise it works! The only thing is i have to remember to open it early morning so it can warm up. Jonah has really picked up on his multiplication today with the help of a computer game.
We also studied homonyms today and he has picked up on it right away. For our Georgia study we learned about the peanut. Did you know most peanuts are grown in China?
We did the devotional on the computer today but i could not get the computer to read it for some reason.
It amazes me how well Jonah reads, and yet he hates to read. He reads far better then some of the kids in my 9th grade class!
Right now he is suppose to be doing chores but he is trying to negotiate out of it. Kids.

Welcome!

I am a Jacquie, happily married to Jeff almost 12 years now. Jeff is an electrician currently (no pun intended!)  working at Edy's Ice cream. Yum. I am a stay at home mom and we homeschool our only son Jonah.
We have two cats- Ashley, who is "the old lady kitty" of 11 years, and Tia who 2 years young. The T is for trouble.
We also have two dogs- a almost nine year old black pug named Sadie and a almost 8 year old bassett hound named Flash. We got them both dogs second hand and they are great pets.
I have lots of interests- writing,  knitting, photography and more.
I have been feeding the outside critters birdseed and today we discovered possums at the feeder.
